Using flickr, magpie, and litebox to build a picture gallery.

If one were to go to my homepage they would see my flickr feed on the right hand side, maybe below if they’re surfing on a tiny lil screen or have insanely high resolution.

When I relaunched my portfolio about three weeks ago, the flickr feed looked just as it does now. But behind the scenes a few things have changed. Namely the way I am pulling the feed in, and more recently my edition of litebox.

What follows is how I was able to achieve this and why I decided to do it.

Building it Strict – XHTML Compliance

I had to jump through numerous hoops to get this site to be of strict compliance. I figured I would share to get some dialogue going about different techniques that others have used as well as my own.

Although this list is published, I may add more to it in the future, just because this stuff never ends.

Before the list though, I would like to thank Steve James over at epicunion for keeping me up to date on the good, the bad, and the ugly of web standards. Everytime I think I can teach him something, he ends up teaching me.
