I am a horrible blogger AND a decent hustler
By George Huff
I’m always reading these “how to blog” lists, well not so much of late, but I was reading them. They all say consistency is key!
“Blog on a consistent basis, if it’s one time a week, then make sure you do it…”
In reading that, it seemed easy enough - but nope! Anyhow, it’s retarded for me to even blog about blogging (no offense to the retards who read my blog). I’ve been so busy doing that I haven’t had time to really tell about any of it - so here goes.
Wait! I have to share this video from Home Skillet Fest - I think it’s rad.
Ok, here goes…

HomeSkillet Fest Catalog
By George Huff
Recently, I had the opportunity to do something in photoshop/illustrator that wasn’t webdesign. I have very little experience in designing things for the real world. I decided to wait a few months till I posted this to see if it was worth it.
Don’t get me wrong, this catalog isn’t horrible. I am happy to say it was a good first attempt. Along the way I got to increase my CS3 sweet chops and learn a new program (InDesign) which I had never used before. HomeSkillet Fest, which I co-founded, is always a chance for me to branch out and learn something new. I think it’s important to have not only client projects, but your own projects as well.

An Adventurous Day
By George Huff
After my long stint in Alaska, I decided I needed to take the day off (if you are a client, i’m back on track tomorrow!!). I never really take days off as I have said before. I emailed a few people and talked to a few clients, enough to make sure there were no immediate fires. After that, I got ready for a trip through the heart of Portland, out to the Apple store in Beaverton, and then back to North Portland (nopo) where I reside.
One might think this would be an easy trip at 1:30 in the afternoon, nope! Let’s start with the first stop on the agenda, the auto shop. I’m not going to name name’s as my fiancee’s cousin works there and they’ve been good about the situation as-so-far. But I have had to bring the car BACK for the third time for the exact same problem. My POS Jeep can’t seem to get fixed. This last time they had the car while I was in Alaska! Two Weeks! Today I picked it up, I was weary of it working at all.

HomeSkilletFest 2007
By George Huff
It’s that time of year again when I get to break out of my box and design something whichever way I like. Ahh freedom. Right after HomeSkilletFest 06, I decided the next year’s theme would have a revolution look and feel. I’m using the communist star and a viva la revolution fist, which both conjur up images of toppling and overthrow. How does this relate to HomeSkillet Records? Because we don’t like the RIAA.
As with most HomeSkillet Records (the label I co-founded) projects, there are a ton of subtle things I like to hide within the design. May as well keep it interesting right?

HomeSkillet Fest
By George Huff
I come from a small town in Alaska, and I have been up here for the last few days promoting HomeSkillet Fest. We’ve been planning this show for the last five months, it’s nice to see it come to fruition. I think more than anything, this show has helped pull me back to my roots.
It’s funny, I was thinking about my high school teacher who taught me basic html. I wonder what he would think now. Anyone who reads me knows I love the internet and all the barriers it is knocking down. I probably would grow up to be a soured old prick if I didn’t have things digital distribution of music.
Which brings me to HomeSkillet Fest.
